Summary

Can a poem save your life? Words are powerful。 Insults and rumors can derail a career; a bit of encouragement can give someone the strength to pursue their dreams。 When a high school boy skipping class to sketch shoe designs and a taciturn woman drinking a morning beer meet in a Tokyo park, they say little, but the woman bids farewell with an ancient tanka poem。 Will the boy figure out the poem's meaning-and its corresponding response-before it's too late?

The art style in this manga is wonderful and I have been eagerly anticipating watching the movie for quite some time。 I enjoyed the message of the story but I felt kind of uncomfortable with one of the plot lines later revealed in this。 The dialogue was also placed in odd panels which made this hard to read and very confusing。 I may still watch the movie at some point and I hope it fixes this story as I felt it was too short and there wasn’t enough to make me attached to these characters。

I actually really enjoyed this manga once I had managed to figure out the formating。 It had way too many bubbles per page on some pages。 As for the romance, it was a typical teacher/student will they/won't they that didn't developed and I found it very refreshing。 I also liked the never give up on your dreams theme。 I didn't understand some plot twists but it didn't ruin the story。 I actually really enjoyed this manga once I had managed to figure out the formating。 It had way too many bubbles per page on some pages。 As for the romance, it was a typical teacher/student will they/won't they that didn't developed and I found it very refreshing。 I also liked the never give up on your dreams theme。 I didn't understand some plot twists but it didn't ruin the story。 。。。more

Feels like I was reading some of my own memory。 I could feel some of Takao Akizuki thought and that feeling of being lost in life。 The love story was good and not in a very romantic way。

This is the expanded novelization of Makoto Shinkai's film of the same name。 It is also my favorite film of his。 This telling adds more character perspectives; characters who were just briefly in the film are given complete chapters all their own and are infinitely more complex。 I give this my highest recommendation。 This is a beautiful story that aches with that lonely sorrow we call love。 You don't need to have watched the film or even have an interest in anime or animation to find beauty here This is the expanded novelization of Makoto Shinkai's film of the same name。 It is also my favorite film of his。 This telling adds more character perspectives; characters who were just briefly in the film are given complete chapters all their own and are infinitely more complex。 I give this my highest recommendation。 This is a beautiful story that aches with that lonely sorrow we call love。 You don't need to have watched the film or even have an interest in anime or animation to find beauty here。 。。。more

This is an adaptation of the film (much more in-depth)。 I enjoyed reading the story, though I’ve seen the film。 As some one who’s been in a relationship with someone that’s was nearly a decade my senior, I can relate, albeit I wasn’t in high school when it happened。 So there are some strange instances where you’re wondering if there’s ulterior motives or just raw human emotion。 I tend to lean on raw real human emotions for my opinion on this story。 I like to think of hearts meeting each other an This is an adaptation of the film (much more in-depth)。 I enjoyed reading the story, though I’ve seen the film。 As some one who’s been in a relationship with someone that’s was nearly a decade my senior, I can relate, albeit I wasn’t in high school when it happened。 So there are some strange instances where you’re wondering if there’s ulterior motives or just raw human emotion。 I tend to lean on raw real human emotions for my opinion on this story。 I like to think of hearts meeting each other and connecting。 In the end, I see it as they’re going to put their heads down and do what they have to get done and mend themselves together, be it schooling or work and then come back together when it’s more appropriate。 That’s how I see it and take the story。 I enjoyed it, but again, the movie is way more gripping and makes you feel a lot more, the manga is more of a summary。 。。。more
